How can I make a tile pattern with a color gradient effect?
This article will show you how to create and apply tile patterns to achieve a gradient effect. This will enable you to accurately illustrate and estimate complex tile pattern layouts in your projects.
This applies to Measuresquare 8, Build 8941.
Tile pattern design is one of MeasureSquare's more complex modules in that it allows users to design complex tile patterns, allowing them to estimate tile layouts as accurately as possible. Below is a screenshot of multiple tile patterns showing a gradient effect where the distribution of tiles increases/decreases as we proceed down the floor.
Step 1. First off, create your base tile product. Duplicate
it by however many tile colors you have (all tiles will be
the same size).
Step 2. Drag the grey
tile product to the diagram.
Step 4. Apply the grey herringbone pattern by dragging and dropping it into the diagram
Step 5. Use the Divider tool to trace the boundaries where the floor is 100% grey, 10% colored, and 100% colored
Step 6. Next, using a colored tile (blue, yellow, etc..), create & save
another herringbone pattern. Apply it to either of the 10% colored or
100% colored areas.
Step 7. You can now modify this to be a randomized pattern with a percentage distribution. As shown below, double-click on the pattern under Project Items. Then, click Edit. At right, click on Add to add your colored tiles and set their percentages.
Repeat steps 2 - 6 for the remaining area(s)/colors. You should get a result like below, as well has have at least three tile patterns under your project patterns pane:
