💡 Margin
vs. Markup — Key Difference
Margin = Profit divided by Sales price. A 45% margin means 45 cents of every dollar charged is profit.
Markup = Profit divided by Cost. An 82.9% markup means you charged 82.9% more than the cost.
Field | How It Works |
Freight | Enter a flat dollar amount for shipping or delivery costs. Check 'Discountable' if any worksheet discount should also apply to the freight charge. |
Discount | Enter a percentage (e.g., 5%) or flat amount to reduce the total. Check 'Show in Total' to include the discount line in the customer-facing printout. The lock icon freezes the discount value from auto-recalculation. |
Deposit | Enter a
deposit percentage or flat amount required before work begins. Check 'Show in
Total' to display this on the quote. The lock icon prevents the deposit from
changing when other values are adjusted. |
Field | Description |
Total | The final customer-facing price. Calculated as: Sales + Tax + Freight − Discount. In the example: $31,348.74. |
Terms & Conditions | A
free-text field for entering payment terms, warranty language, or legal
disclaimers that will print at the bottom of customer quotes. |
