Shortcuts and Hotkeys for MeasureSquare 8
In this article, we will show you a table of shortcuts and hotkeys that are most frequently used in MeasureSquare 8
Onscreen Plan Takeoff
- Wheeler : Zoom in and out
- Wheeler Down : Pan and shift rooms and plan
- Plus/Minus (+, -) Keys : Zoom in and out
Common Commands
- Ctrl + Z : Undo last command
- Ctrl + Y : Redo last command
- Ctrl + N : Create new project
- Ctrl + O : Open project
- Ctrl + S : Save project
- Ctrl + B : Open product/services database
- Ctrl + P : Preview and print
- Right-Click : Cancel any current command
- Shift : Toggle on/off 45 to 90 degrees angle
- R key : Create an arc or circle shape
- Ctrl : Disable alignment
Room Selection
- Ctrl + A : Select all rooms in the current layer
- Ctrl + Left-Click : Pick to select multiple rooms
- Left-Click hold down : Drag out rectangular area to contain rooms to highlight
- Shift + DrawRect tool : Drag out rectangular area to inverse select rooms
Room Movement and Alignment
Freedraw Mode
- Ctrl + Z : Undo one step (before freedraw finishes, or reopen a closed room)
- Ctrl + Y : Redo one step (redo the last drawing)
- Ctrl + D and R : Start freedraw mode
- Up/Down/Left/Right arrow key : Change draw direction in freedraw mode
- Type in a number : Draw a line of that number in feet when in freedraw mode. If type in a number with “ or ‘, the program will draw that number in feet or inch
- Space, or Right-click, or Double Click : Close freedraw shape
- Esc or Right-click : Quit freedraw mode
- P key : Stop drawing, allow to re-start drawing by clicking on either end points
- Click start point -> R key -> click endpoint : Turn current drawing segment into curve
- Q key : Align line perpendicular to previous segment
- T key : Create a rectangular room against one line
- Shift down : Hold to swing line to any angle
- Ctrl : Disable alignment
- Hold freedraw start point + R key : Drag out a circular room
- Ctrl + Q : Toggle on/off lock to 45 to 90-degree angle
Dimension Measurement
- S key : Measure sloping dimension
- H key : Measure horizontal dimension
- V key : Measure vertical dimension
Hole and Elevation
- R key -> elevation/hole tool : Drag out a circular shape of elevation/hole
- Click Divider start point -> R key -> click divider endpoint : Turn current divider segment into a curve shape
Insert Doorway, Window and Stairway
- Ctrl + D and D : Insert a door on a wall section
- S key : Change door style
- X key : Change door swing direction
- C key : Show door setting window
- Ctrl + D and W : Insert a window on a wall section
- Ctrl + D and O : Draw a window on a wall section by dragging
- Ctrl + D and S : Insert a stair way by entering width, tread, riser and step, and label
Delete Rooms or Fixtures
- Delete key : Delete any highlighted items (rooms or fixtures)
Shift Selected Rooms
- Arrow keys : Shift highlighted items up, down, left, right
Cut, Copy, Paste Rooms
- Ctrl + X : Cut selected rooms
- Ctrl + C : Copy selected rooms
- Ctrl + V : Paste copied rooms
Select Walls
- Ctrl + Left-Click : Select multiple walls
Change Tile Pattern Position and Set Layout Direction
- PatternPos tool + F1~F12 : Show the offset fraction such as 1/2, 1/3 etc. of tile pattern position
- Shift : Select or deselect a region
- Ctrl : Keep tile replacement position
Replace Tile
- Ctrl : Hold down to flood-replace tiles
Design Tile Pattern
- Drag + F1~F12 : Show the fraction offset of one tile over another tile. For example, you can see fraction of 1/3, 2/3 when pressing F3, and see fraction of 1/4, 2/4, 3/4 when pressing F4.
GTCO Digitizer 16-Button Configuration
- Button 0 : Pick corner point while in freedraw mode (beep once)
- Button 1 : Undo pick corner while in freedraw
- Button 2 : Trace arc/curve wall (Toggle On/Off)
- Button 3 : Redo corner pick
- Button 4 : Restart freedraw (abandon current points)
- Button 5 : Close freedraw shape
- Button 6 : Enter into rectangular shape takeoff (Toggle On/Off)
- Button 7 : Enter into attachment takeoff (takeaway areas, holes, insets, etc) (Toggle On/Off)
- Button 8 : Enter into doorway takeoff (pick two door width points, second point with door leaf) (Toggle On/Off)
- Button 9 : Enter into stairway takeoff (start from first step, pick four points: first two points define stairway width, third point AND 2nd point defines a single tread length, fourth point AND 1st point defines the total tread length (Toggle On/Off)
