How to Use the Splitter Tool in MeasureSquare Stone
In this article, we will walk you through the Splitter tool in MeasureSquare Stone. The Splitter tool divides a countertop area into separate pieces, which is useful when a countertop needs to be fabricated as multiple slabs, when different sections require different materials, or when you need to define seam locations.
Step 1: Draw a countertop area (or select an existing one)
Step 2: Click the main Splitter button directly (not the dropdown arrow). This activates a freeform split mode — click and draw a line across the countertop wherever you want to place the split. This gives you full control over the angle and position of the cut.
After splitting, the countertop will be divided into separate labeled areas, each with its own dimensions and square footage.
Step 3: Alternatively, click the dropdown arrow next to the Splitter button to choose from six preset splitter types (see below).
Types of Splitters
- Horizontal Splitter — Splits a countertop area with a horizontal line across the shape from left to right.
- Vertical Splitter — Splits a countertop area with a vertical line across the shape from top to bottom.
- Arc Splitter — Splits a countertop area along a curved arc line, useful for rounded countertop edges or curved seam placements.
- Even Splitter — Splits a countertop area into equal-sized sections automatically.
- You can choose to split by Segments (number of pieces), Distance (equal spacing at a set measurement), or Degree (angle-based splits)
- Splash & Lam Splitter — Splits splash and laminate layers at the same point where the parent countertop was split, keeping seam locations aligned across all layers.
- Split by Distance — Splits a countertop area at a specific measurement from an edge. You can choose the split direction: Horizontal, Vertical, or Splash&Lam, then enter the exact distance value
After splitting, each piece becomes its own independent area on the takeoff. You can assign different products, adjust dimensions, or further split individual pieces as needed.
