How to Use Split Edge Segment in MeasureSquare Stone
Overview
The Split Edge Segment feature allows you to divide a wall/edge of an area into multiple segments. This is useful for defining specific measurement points, cabinet locations, or transition boundaries on a floor plan.
Method 1: Split Edge Segment (Interactive / Manual)
Right-click on the selected area → click AreaEdit → select "Split Edge Segment" (Image 1, markers 1 & 2)
Step 2 — Click on the Target Edge
- The cursor enters split mode
- Hover over the edge you want to split — it highlights in green
- Click on the desired split location along the edge (Image 2)
- The status bar at the bottom confirms: "Split wall segment. Right click to cancel and return to ready."
Step 3 — Result
The edge is now divided into two segments, each displaying its individual dimension label on the floor plan.
Method 2: Split Edge Segment by Distance
Step 1 — Open AreaEdit → "Split Edge Segment by Distance" (2)
Right-click on the area → AreaEdit → "Split Edge Segment by Distance" (Image 1)
Step 3 — Enter the Distance & Confirm
- Type the split distance in the Distance field (e.g.,
2'0")
- Click OK to apply
- Click on the wall segment you want to split
- Click Cancel to abort the Split Edge Segment by Distance tool
Method 3: Delete Edge Segment (After Splitting)
Once an edge has been split, you can remove an unwanted sub-segment:
Step 1 — Open AreaEdit → "Delete Edge Segment"
Right-click → AreaEdit → "Delete Edge Segment" (Images 3 & 6)
Step 2 — Hover to Identify the Segment
- Move the cursor over segments — the target segment highlights in cyan/blue (Image 4)
- Status bar shows: "Delete a wall segment. Left-click on a wall segment to delete it. Right click to cancel."

Tips
- Right-click at any time to cancel and return to Ready mode
- Always watch the status bar at the bottom for real-time instructions
- Use Split Edge Segment by Distance when you need a precise measurement split (e.g., at a cabinet edge or transition point)
- After splitting, individual segment lengths appear as separate dimension labels on the drawing
