How to Split a Room (Split Room vs Split Room by Region) in MeasureSquare 8

This article explains how to use the Split Room and Split Room by Region features in MeasureSquare 8. Both methods allow you to divide a single room into two separate areas, but they differ in how walls are handled after the split.

Steps to Split a Room

Step 1: Draw a Divider Line

  • use Divider tool on the top ribbon
  • Click to set the starting point of the divider line, then draw it across the room to define where the split will occur.

Step 2: Apply the Split

  • Right-click on the room to open the context menu.
  • Hover over Room Edit to expand the submenu.
  • Choose one of the following options:
    • Split Room — splits the room and creates a wall along the divider line.
    • Split Room by Region — splits the room into separate regions without creating a wall along the divider line.

Step 3: Review the Result

After applying the split, the original room will be divided into two independently named rooms (e.g., Rm2 and Rm3, or Rm4 and Rm5).

  • Split Room: A wall segment is created along the divider line between the two new rooms.
  • Split Room by Region: The room is divided into two regions with no wall created along the split line.
