How to Export a Product Catalog as a file in MeasureSquare 8?

Exporting a product catalog to a file allows you to back up your catalog, share it with colleagues, or transfer it to another machine. The exported file uses the .m2pdb (M2 Product Database) format.

1. Open the Product Catalogs manager.

In the Takeoff tab, locate the Product/Service panel on the left side of the workspace. Next to the catalog dropdown, click the Product Catalogs icon.




2. Select the catalog you want to export.

  1. The Product Catalogs dialog opens, listing all available catalogs along with their sync time, modified date, and creator. Click the row of the catalog you wish to export (e.g., Imperial) so it is highlighted.
  2. After selecting the Product Catalog, click the Export product database to a file icon (hovering over it displays this tooltip for confirmation).




3. Choose a save location and file name.


A Save As window appears. The file name defaults to the catalog name (e.g., Imperial.m2pdb), and the file type is set to M2 Product Database (*.m2pdb). Navigate to your preferred folder — Downloads, Desktop, or another location — adjust the file name if needed, and click Save.
