How to Crop from a Previous Tab and Paste into a New Tab in MeasureSquare 8?

Overview

In MeasureSquare 8 you can crop part of a blueprint on one tab and paste it onto a new tab, so each area or floor gets its own workspace. The crop creates a new image on the original tab; you copy that image, paste it into the new tab, then delete the leftover copy from the original tab.

Use this when a single blueprint page holds more than one floor or area, such as a detail or inset drawn beside the main finish plan.

Step 1: Create a new tab

  1. At the bottom-left of the drawing area, click the + (Add Tab) button next to the existing tab name.
  2. In the New Tab dialog, type a name in the Name field (for example, 2nd Floor). Optionally pick a Color and set Duplication.
  3. Click OK. The new tab appears next to the original tab at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Crop a region from the original tab

  1. Go back to the original tab (here, cave_creek_medical_center).
  2. Right-click on the blueprint image and choose Crop from the EDIT section of the menu.

  1. Click (1) and drag a box (2) around the area you want to move to the new tab. The crop region shows as a shaded rectangle with a green outline. To cancel, right-click to return to Ready.
  2. Release the mouse. MeasureSquare creates a new image from the selected region and places it next to the original blueprint.

Step 3: Copy the cropped image

  1. Find the new cropped image, which appears to the right of the original blueprint.
  2. Right-click on the cropped image so it is selected (outlined in red).
  3. Choose Copy from the EDIT section of the menu.

Step 4: Paste into the new tab

  1. Click the new tab (2nd Floor) at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Right-click anywhere on the empty drawing area.
  3. Choose Paste or CTRL + V.

The cropped image now appears on the new tab, ready for takeoff.

Use Paste Mirror by X or Paste Mirror by Y if you need a flipped copy of the image.

Step 5: Delete the leftover cropped image from the original tab

The crop also left a copy on the original tab, which you no longer need there.

  1. Click the original tab (cave_creek_medical_center).
  2. Right-click the cropped image beside the blueprint.
  3. Choose Delete.
