Steps to Create a Stage

Step 1: Select the Room

  • In the Takeoff view, click on the room you want to use as the base for the stage.
  • The room border will highlight in red to confirm it is selected.

Step 2: Open the Create Stage Command

  • In the top toolbar, click RmEdit.
  • From the dropdown menu, scroll down and select Create Stage .

Step 3: Configure Stage Settings

  • The Create Stage dialog will open (see Screenshot 2). Set the following options:
    • Direction: Choose the step direction —
      • Going Up / Going Down (vertical orientation)
      • Going Out / Going In (horizontal orientation)
    • Rise Height: Enter the height of each step riser (default: 7").
    • Rise Product: Select a product for the riser surface from the dropdown, or click + to add one.
    • Tread Width: Enter the depth of each step tread (default: 11").
    • Tread Product: Select a product for the tread surface from the dropdown, or click + to add one.
    • Step Count: Enter the number of steps (default: 8).
  • Click OK to generate the stage.

Step 4: Review the Stage in the Takeoff View

  • The stage will appear as a series of concentric rectangular outlines around the original room footprint, representing each step layer.

  • Switch to 3D View to verify the stage structure visually.
