How to Combine Two Aligned Walls into One in MeasureSquare 8

This article explains how to combine two aligned wall segments back into a single, continuous wall in MeasureSquare 8 using the Delete Wall Segment tool. Use this when a wall that should be one has been unintentionally divided into two.

Why a Wall Splits into Two Segments

A single wall can become two separate segments when an extra point (a breakpoint) is added along its length. This often happens by accident — for example, if you left-click partway through drawing a wall, MeasureSquare 8 treats the click as a new point and splits the wall in two at that spot.

In Screenshot 1, the right-hand wall has a breakpoint that divides it into two 6'6" segments instead of one continuous wall. The Delete Wall Segment tool removes the dividing point between two aligned segments, merging them back into one wall.

Steps to Combine Two Aligned Walls into One

Step 1: Confirm the wall is split into two segments

  • Select the room and check the wall segment list.
  • A wall that should be one will appear as two separate, aligned segments.

Step 2: Open the Delete Wall Segment tool

  • With the room selected, click RmEdit.
  • From the dropdown, select Delete Wall Segment

Step 3: Select the segment to remove

  • An X will appear under your mouse pointer.
  • Hover over the wall segment you want to remove — one of the two aligned segments — and left-click

Step 4: Verify the result

  • The two segments are now merged into one continuous wall.
  • The room shows one fewer wall than before. The room now has 4 walls (#1–#4) instead of 5, and the right wall is a single segment.

NotesTip: Deleting either of the two aligned segments merges them — the wall stays closed and the room shape is unchanged. Only the extra breakpoint is removed.
