How to Change the Thickness and Dash Style of the Layout Direction Arrow in MeasureSquare 8?

The Layout Direction arrow indicates the orientation of material installation in your takeoff. You can customize its appearance — including line thickness, dash style, and color — through the System Setting dialog to make it more visible or match your drawing preferences.

1. In the top toolbar, click the System Setting (gear) icon located near the Project Info tab. This opens the System Setting dialog window.

2. Within the System Setting dialog, click the Drawing Style tab. This tab contains all the visual style options for lines, borders, fonts, and colors used throughout the drawing workspace.

3. Scroll through the middle column and find Layout Dir and Locked Layout Dir . Click on its style preview (the line sample next to the label) to select it. Once selected, an editing panel appears on the right side showing three properties:
  1. Thickness — set the line weight (e.g., 1, 2, 3).
  2. DashStyle — choose solid, dashed, dotted, or another pattern.
  3. Color — pick a color from the palette (for example, changing it from Black to Red for higher visibility).

4. Click Save at the bottom-right of the dialog to apply the new Layout Direction arrow style. The updated appearance will now be used across your takeoff drawings.
